AMV Biography

Hello and welcome to AMV Studio.

I am Andreas Michael Varnavides, also-known-as AMV.

A multi-disciplined visual polymath, My work can best be described as a melting-pot of modern, visual communication design disciplines, (such as logo, logotype, lettering, illustration, layout, publishing and digital media design) combined with traditional visual art techniques (including drawing, painting, photography, hand-pulled silkscreen-printing, stencilling, block-printing, and collage).

Early Life & Education

Born and raised on the East-Essex coast, to Cypriot parents, as my father had migrated to England from Cyprus in the 1960’s, and settled in the coastal town of Clacton-on-sea, into a small community made up of some of his extended family from Cyprus, who had already found a home.

A childhood spent mostly between school, and in my father’s restaurant in the town centre, art and design were the only subjects in school which remotely interested me.

Aged 17, I lived and studied in Nicosia, Cyprus for a couple of years during the early-mid 1990's, returning to England having secured various college places to further my Art and Design studies, attending Chelsea College of Art, Middlesex University and Barnet College, in London, from 1995 until 2000.

Design Career History
Graduating graphic design college in London in 2000, I produced artwork and graphic design in various guises. I built a solid foundation of my craft, having cut my teeth in fast-paced pre-press and production departments, artworking official, confidential, and technically-complex layout and publishing assets, within the corporate and B2B sector, until Autumn 2007.

Different Prints Studio

From 2007 to 2014, I was co-founder and Creative Director of Different Prints; a multi-faceted visual art & design studio, based in the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, in Tottenham, North London.
There, we produced art and design projects, for the arts, music, dance-floor and street-culture community in London, and internationally.

AMV STUDIO
In 2014,I formed AMV Studio - my personal production facility, where I create one-off art pieces, limited-edition print-runs and design collections, that truly matter to me.

In 2017, I designed and built a dedicated platform to; incubate, develop, showcase and sell my creative goods, produced in collaboration with organisations that share similar, ethical business practices as we do.
