I am Andreas Michael Varnavides, also-known-as AMV.

I am a visual artist and designer; born, raised and currently residing on the East Essex coast of the UK. I am a 2nd generation immigrant, of Cypriot and Greek heritage, hence the family name.

My practice combines numerous visual and graphic disciplines; modern, visual communication design, (vector graphics, lettering, illustration, fashion, publishing, digital media, and surface pattern design), together with traditional visual art techniques (including drawing, painting, typography, photography, silkscreen-printing and printmaking, stencilling, and collage).

This website acts as my digital HQ, and all the products available for purchase on this site are original and exclusive, and were designed by me.

Early life

I was a child that liked to draw, who, after a fateful primary school visit to the Tate Gallery in London, and experiencing Henry Matisse’s abstract masterpiece ‘The Snail’ in real life, was hooked on visual art for ever. Art and design became the only subjects I would pursue, throughout high school.

Art & Design Education & Career

Fast forward 15 years; after graduating various art and design schools and Colleges in London and Cyprus, between 1993-2000, by the summer of 2000, I was a graphic artist and designer for hire, based in London.

In 2007, I set up Different Prints design and traditional screen printing studio, in Tottenham, North London. There I continued developing my practise, while also working with cultural movers and shakers, including my brother DJ Volatile, Get Involved London, Martine Rose Menswear, Spinback, Aruba Red, The Beat Community, Auntie Maureen, and Wan-Cee.

Crafting meaningful visuals, which stand the test of time, is something I became known for.

AMV Studio

In 2014, after 19 years living and working in London, I returned to the East Essex coast, to the area where I was raised. Once relocated, setting up my studio nearby was the next logical step. I have been producing from here since.
